Radiopapers - The DiaLog Project Podcast
The DiaLog radiopapers encourage an entertaining exploration of argumentation. In the radiopapers, theoretical backgrounds are examined in more detail and concrete tips for using the materials in the classroom are provided.
Radiopaper 2: Argumentation in the teaching of German as a first, second and foreign language
“Argumentation enables peaceful conflict resolution, both interpersonally and politically,” says Stephan Schicker, describing the importance of argumentative skills and explaining that this is a central competence in school as well as in society, which is significant for democratic decision-making processes. The promotion of argumentation skills in the classroom is therefore of great importance and supports students in recognizing fake news and developing empathy as well as providing guidance and helping them to justify their decisions.

Radiopaper 3: Role plays in the teaching of German as a first, second and foreign language
Under the motto "Speak up today for tomorrow," the DiaLog project builds on the promotion of argumentative skills through role-playing in the classroom, thus enabling students to leave their own world and change perspectives in a playful way. It is important that the roles are designed in a way that appeals to the students so that they enjoy taking them on.

Radiopaper 4: Text procedures
The theoretical foundation of this didactic concept lies in the text procedure approach. "A text procedure is a very essential part of a linguistic action", describes Sabine Schmölzer-Eibinger (project leader) and explains that a text procedure always consists of two parts - the language action pattern and the linguistic expressions typical for it, which are connected by a function. Arguing itself, in turn, consists of several text procedures such as positioning and conceding. A didactics of text procedures starts with these language action patterns and typical expressions and provides the students with the necessary linguistic framework.

Radiopaper 6: The diagnostic tool for the linguistic action of argumentation in learner texts
In order to sharpen the view for argumentative language actions in learner texts and to be able to give individual feedback, the "Diagnostic Tool for the Language Action of Argumentation in Learner Texts" was developed within the project. Based on the occurrence of certain language action patterns, the quality of the text procedures used, as well as on the reference back to the writing task, the learner is classified as an apprentice, journeyman, or master and possible potential for improvement is identified.
More information about the potentials and possible applications of the tool can be found in Radiopaper 6 - Podcast.
